Lori Johns Angel Is A Female Drag Racer

Lori Johns Angel is a female drag racer that has competed successfully throughout the world. She understandably attributes a lot of her success to family, but especially to her Dad who was also a drag racer and introduced her to the sport when she was just three years old. It was also he that told her to learn about the mechanics of a car to become truly successful, and taught her to speed shift her first car, a 1982 4 speed Corvette. When Lori Johns Angel won her first drag race in that Corvette while still at high school, it was her Dad that went out and bought her first drag car.

Lori Johns Angel’s first drag car was a 1969 Chevrolet Nova called the Tequila Sunrise, which she raced at weekends while attending high school during the week. During her first year at Texas A&M University, Lori Johns Angel got her next car, which was a B-Econo dragster, which her Dad had built by Don Ness. Lori continue to race this car until an accident in Louisiana when she broke her neck and had to wear a brace for 6 months.

Following recovery from this accident, Lori Johns Angel took delivery of a Top Fuel Dragster from Dave Ueyhara. She also took on the right parts and the right crew, as well as a truck and trailer in order to take her racing on the road. High profile sponsorships, major race victories and serious column inches soon followed as it became obvious that her Dad’s racing skills had firmly rubbed off on Lori Johns Angel.
